We are four ladies who live in the West Midlands, UK. We have had our lives touched by autism and in particular by the achievements of Christopher Finnes using the Rapid Prompting Method (RPM). We feel so passionately about what we have learnt, seen, and been part of, that we want to share this with others and help Christopher to achieve his dream of helping other autistic people to unlock their voices. Soma Mukhopadhyay, who developed RPM, has encouraged us to set up a UK based not-for-profit community interest company . Our aim is to provide support and training for parents to empower their autistic children and adults, across the spectrum, to be able to express their thoughts, understanding, learning and reasoning. We have seen this method help children and adults across the whole autistic spectrum from non-verbal, severely affected people to higher functioning and verbal. If you have sometimes thought there is more going on in there than meets the eye you are almost certainly correct. Please take the time to explore this website and see just what is possible. You will be astounded like we were and still are!
So who are ‘we’?Well Christopher’s mum , Sue and his team of helpers :- Alex, Karen and Penny. We realised that we had built up quite a lot of RPM experience working with Chris and decided we wanted to help other children as well. We ran Saturday sessions in the West Midlands, UK starting in December 2013 and worked with a range of children and ages. Alexandra Hopwood , who is also a fully qualified primary school teacher, decided that she wanted to do RPM as her full time career. She interned with Soma at HALO, Texas, successfully working with over 40 of Soma's students while she was there, and became fully certified in December 2014. Since January 2015 Alex has been working full time to support UK and Irish families. Her website is www.rapidpromptingmethod.co.uk
